Welcome to the Hastings, Bexhill & Rye Methodist Circuit

God's love for all

Learn more about our mission

Welcome to the Hastings, Bexhill and Rye Methodist Circuit.

We are a group of eleven Methodist churches on the coast of East Sussex, serving a mix of rural and town communities, and also including the historic chapel of Winchelsea where John Wesley preached in 1789.

We believe in relevant, inclusive worship and generous hospitality, seeking to share God's love with everyone and making a God-centred difference to the communities of which we are a part. Our churches are open to all and aim to be spaces where people can make friends with others and be friends with God.

We would be delighted to see you at any of our activities. Meanwhile, please do take time to look around and see what we are up to, join our email list or follow us on Facebook.

Our faith

We believe and trust in God, who loves us all.

We believe and trust in Jesus, who showed us what love means.

We believe and trust in the Holy Spirit, who helps us to love in return.

Hello! My name is Philip Wagstaff and I am delighted to be the superintendent of the Hastings, Bexhill and Rye circuit. I have been here since 2020 having had a varied ministry, including over twenty years in Devon, and, although arriving during COVID wasn't ideal, I have enjoyed getting to know this beautiful part of the world. Life is challenging for many at the moment but I am blessed by having a wonderful team, both lay and ordained, around me as together we work to share God's love in this place.

Please take time to explore our website and find out what is going on. You will be very welcome to join us at any of our churches or activities.

Prayer of the day

Compassionate God,

Help us to remember the forgotten around us,
and shower them with as much love, attention,
compassion as we offer everyone else.
